Bronski Beat without Jimmy Somerville - is that possible? Well, to me it seems like just a way to cash in on bad techno remixes of an old hit. However, it's not as bad as you might think; Steve Bronski sings himself this time, and he does it quite well even though he's no Jimmy. Actually, it's basically two different songs: a slow acoustic guitar version and an upbeat techno-disco version, both with their various mixes. The guitar mixes are pretty good, laid back and a bit sad, considering that you actually can make out the lyrics pretty clearly. The disco versions aren't half as bad as they could have been; I almost feel the urge to dance from time to time. Still, none of the '94 versions are nearly as good as the melancholic '84 synth pop version with Jimmy Somerville's incredible voice.
