Comments:
Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine: once labeled as a punk version of the Pet Shop Boys. The definition isn't entirely incorrect, but not exactly accurate either. They had drum machines and synth basslines, but other than that it was noisy guitar pop with mostly angry and sarcastic lyrics. Not what I'd call punk, but some might say that. Perhaps They Might Be Giants on steroids? Anyway, this is the (to my knowledge) first Carter album, and most definitely a very good one at that.
Carter U.S.M. was at this point in time made up of James Morrison (called Jim Bob - to avoid being mistaken for some dead junkie rock star, perhaps?) and Les Carter (Fruit Bat). I think they have a live drummer and perhaps a bassplayer as well nowadays. I liked their sound more when it was a mix of machines and guitars.
Why don't you take a peek at the Carter website? It claims to be maintained by Fruitbat himself.
