Comments:

Dutch immigrant who became one of Sweden's most beloved folk singers in modern times, a national icon of sorts. In his day he was often criticised for being simplistic and vulgar, but near the end of his career (and life, he died in 1987) he at last received the recognition he deserved. He often played other people's songs, like the famous national poet/bard C.M. Bellman, but he is mostly well-known for his own songs, which every Swede knows at least a dozen of.

These songs range from simple humorous tunes to sharp political satire and criticism, sometimes incorporating both. The music styles range from simple folk music accompanied by a lone guitar to jazz, blues and quite often more exotic rhythms. These songs were originally released between 1964 and 1981.
