Comments:
The legendary jazz/blues singer Dinah Washington, these days sadly best known for a jeans commercial - 'Mad About The Boy' was used in a stupid commercial where a "cool dude" walked across people's back yards and took a dive in each swimming pool, and all the rich people who lived there got sooo upset over this behaviour, apart from all the girls who adored him. What a true rebel! Just the cool image I'd get if I bought myself a pair of jeans by this and no other label (no, I'm not saying which one). Like, duh!
There, I just had to get that off my chest. The above mentioned song is not at all bad, but there's so much more to this woman than just selling crappy jeans whose main selling pitch is that they don't fit very well and are pre-worn when bought so that they're more likely to get worn out than go out of style (and we all know how quick the styles change these days). For instance, check out her versions of old classics like 'I've Got You Under My Skin' or 'All Of Me'. The Quincy Jones Orchestra plays the backing music on some of the tracks. These songs were originally released 1954-61.
