For the longest time, I've hated ABBA. Being Swedish, they were always ubiquitous and unavoidable.
It's only now, when I'm past 35 I can just barely start to like them. And, thereby accept
covers that are certainly a lot more enjoyable, and buy them dirt cheap second hand.
Maybe, if an artist is still in some way relevant, 15-20 years after you initially hated them,
is it called giving up, or is it called growing respect? I've found that happening rather a lot
to me lately. I almost even like Metallica now.
