Comments:
A true jazz legend, dubbed "The First Lady Of Song", here with some early and undeniably catchy tunes like 'Sing Me A Swing Song', 'Vote For Mister Rhythm' and 'Devoting My Time'. Unfortunately, the sound quality is rather poor, since these recordings are from the 1936-37. Back then, she still sang with her first band, for Chick Webb (the drummer who discovered her) and his orchestra. I'll probably have to get some of her later recordings as well; there's quite a bit to look into, since she recorded around 250 or so albums in her long career (died at age 79 in '96).
