Comments:
FLA take their DAT:s on the road, and apart from Bill and Rhys banging away at various percussive instruments and keyboards to the sound of the tapes, they're joined by a live guitarist and drummer. This does inject a certain extra kick into the songs, but sometimes (like on 'Mindphaser') the vocals aren't exactly too good. When will Bill learn to sing? It seems that most of the studio vocals must have been surgically extracted from his vocal chords, since he has a hard time to reproduce equally good results on stage. Still, it's an excuse to use more vocoding than normally, which is nice.
And, though the songs have been extended a bit, they're not quite as long as one might be led to believe by the above stated track times. Instead, there are sometimes long parts of pure crowd noise, even for two or three minutes, which makes me suspect this wasn't edited at all and everything you hear is everything that transpired at the show, even the boring parts.
Still, it's a good live double album, and the extra percussion does lift some songs. There was also a limited version of this album, which included a live video and a metal pin (whee!) and perhaps some other gadgetry. Since I'm probably the only person living in the civilized world who don't yet own a VCR, I got this version instead.
