Comments:
This is a bit harder than the previous 242. Some tracks sound a little like 'Don't Crash' off 'Politics Of Pressure' (or Backcatalogue) taken a bit further, especially the characteristical bassline that was to become one of 242's trademarks. This is also when 242 started sounding like what I think of when someone says EBM, this is my definition.
If you know 242, you might have noticed, this is the re-released version of the album (obviously, since track 12 & 13 wasn't on the original release). This is largerly due to my misconception that 242 was very extreme and far too noisy to listen to. This may have been caused by the media hype that they're some sort of right-wing extremist band. To even think such a thing is really hilarious, if you listen to the lyrics. Unfortunately, a lot of people still think they are.
Anyway, when I finally discovered them in 1993, I was instantly hooked. This is great stuff! Not at all that noisy, more like dark, experimental synth pop without the 'pop', if you see what I mean. Truly injecting some 'body' into the 'electronic music' (thus making EBM). For instance, 'Quite Unusual' is sort of like an odd synth pop song, but with some harsher sounds and a very dark 'feel' - and excellent lyrics.
Later, after some indoctrination and brainwash, my girlfriend at the time was also hooked. For quite some time, it wasn't at all uncommon that she'd walk around humming "official veeeersion..."
