Comments:
The only Jackson I can stand. Or at least could at the time; nowadays it seems she's only churning out smooth soul crap and exposing as much of her breasts as possible without getting arrested (which in itself is rather nice, but doesn't make the actual music any better). This album is far from the smooth soul-pop Janet does these days; this album is filled with rather intense drum machine sequences (for a pop album), which is what attracted me to this stuff in the first place. I guess that's due to the Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis production. There is of course a great deal of Janet's smooth voice all over the place, which is the most annoying in the soft love ballads. There are some sound snippets with heaps of samples in between the songs, and quite a few (more 'alternative') artists have sampled these sound snippets off this album. Cultivated Bimbo is one of these.
