Comments:
This album feels a bit darker and rockier, a little more complex than March, but the essential Penn style I really like is still here. Short glimpses makes me think of REM for some reason, especially the choice of certain instruments. Or Tom Petty. But more interesting, especially vocally and lyrically.
It seems as if he's a bit more depressed on this one, and for some reason a depressed artist often makes more interesting music than a happy one. It seems I can't play one Penn album and not play the other, so I guess I like them both just as much, but in slightly different ways.
