Comments:
This album is a bit more interesting to me that Snivilisation for some reason. The rhythms are more synthetic sounding; supposedly all the drum sounds were created on an ARP 2600, but this is merely an unconfirmed rumour. Many of the other sounds are, on the other hand, a lot more organic sounding. For instance, the obvious hit of the album, 'The Box', is based around a mandolin (acoustic guitar?) sounding melody. It's played mostly in 16ths, like one would be plucking the same string rather fast, then another etc. A somewhat depressing yet uplifting track.
This is the limited special US version of this album; the second disc contains both the 'Times Fly EP' and 'The Box EP'. It's quite a joy to hear the entire 28+ minute version of 'The Box' (though the short 12 minute version isn't bad), and I wouldn't want to be without it. There are even lyrics to it, popping up in the fourth or fifth segment (starting at 20:52 or so; the vocals don't really start until 23:47).
