Comments:
This is much more of a little techno experiment than their previous material; it's like twisting Phoenix into something a little darker, less poppy, more contemplative and sprinkle some techno elements on top. 'Metamorphosis' is actually quite a good name, since it marks a change from the synthpop of 'Phoenix' and indicates the direction Headclouds was to explore further, and with better results. At times this album is almost like what Candyflip could have sounded like if their favourite colour was black instead of pink; sort of relaxed and trippy technopop. There are also some more techno-like instrumental tracks, even some 303-ish acid blips here and there. I can spot quite a few Jarre samples in places, and some drumloops aren't too obscure. 'Revolve' even reminds me of the excellent H-A-L-O. The extra track 'Soul Free' sounds like it would fit just nicely on 'Phoenix', and stands out as the clearly poppiest one of this album.
