MIPS programmer's handbook
It includes a full description of the MIPS architecture from the perspective of the assembly and C language, with special emphasis on issues related to embedded applications. Only the preface and a couple of examples are online. Appears to cover the R3000

Instruction level simulator including X Window System's interface.
