Über NetBSD/hpcmips
NetBSD/hpmips bringt das NetBSD- Betriebssystem auf die MIPS- basierten Windows-CE- PDA- Maschinen. Derzeit sind das Geräte, die mit VR4102- , VR4111- , VR 4221- , TX3912- und TX3922- Prozessoren bestückt sind.
Der Portname "hpcmips" stammt vom Namen der Hardware ab, auf der dieser Port läuft: MIPS- basierte Systeme im H/PC (Handheld- PCs)- Formfaktor von Microsoft. Eine H/PC- Maschine besitzt eine Tastatur nebst Touchscreen und verfügt über mindestens 8MB RAM. Dieser Port unterstützt den HPC- Formfaktor ebenso wie die H/PV und PsPC (Palmsized PC)- Formfaktoren (Viele PsPC- Maschinen werden von den Entwicklen für die aktive Entwicklung genutzt).
Weil die Hardwareplattformen das unterstützen, ist NetBSD/hpcmips die ideale Plattform für Mobile- Computing- Anwendungen. Und; natürlich unterstützt NetBSD/hpcmips alle Standardfunktionen von NetBSD wie IPV6 und IPsec.
