Alison Moyet was once the singer in the synth pop band
Yazoo,
where synth-guru Vince Clarke did the music. (Vince
was once in Depeche Mode,
then after Yazoo in The Assembly
and is now in
Erasure). This, however, is far from
synth pop. It's fast, bouncy acoustic guitar pop. Actually, I
think Ode To Boy is ONLY guitars - it sounds a bit strange to
me since it is in fact an old
Yazoo song, but this
version is very different; it sounds as if it's being played
too fast, she almost has no time to sing the lyrics. I like
the synth version more. Still, it's interesting to hear the
same song in a different version ten years after the first
version but still the same vocalist.
