This is the second single from the album
Sequencer
(with Figurehead being the first), and it's definitely
one of the best tracks of that album. The remixes are very good, but still not
as excellent as the album version. They both have a steadier beat, but
unfortunately lack those breaks that made the album version so incredibly cool.
The first remix is perhaps more disco-ish (well, as much as it can be without
losing too much edge) and the second more stompy.
In contrast with the 'Stalker' remixes is 'Liquid Sky' which is rather
slow and mellow for a Covenant track. It's a poppy little melody, but the vocals
are pretty scarce, just the occasional line. The main focus is a little blippy
synth line that pops around to a funky machine-type beat. Too weak to be on the
album I guess, but good as a b-side. 'Babel' on the other hand seems more like
it could have been on the album, even though it was not. Well, perhaps it's a
little too monotonous for that, but it's a good track and I wouldn't want to be
without it. But, if this is the short version (at 5:17), I wonder what the long
version is like...?
