Comments:
This is probably one of Depeche Mode's best songs ever. So absolutely stunning. There's not as much guitars on this one as on I Feel You, and those that are there are used more like on Enjoy The Silence. It's also a pretty slow track, very powerful and full of emotions. It's just brilliant.
The 'grungy gonads' has more guitars, more scratches, heavier beat and less vocals (just a few samples). It's got more of an edge and power, but it lacks the brilliant words. Did I write 'scratches' just there? Yes, I did - DM with guitars, scratching and funky drums; can that really be DM? Yes! The DM feel is very strong, even though it's not all synthetic. Very good.
'My Joy' is a very good b-side, kind of in the 'mood' of those off the Violator singles, but a bit darker and with a very deep bassline. The drums are also pretty funky, but there's not too much guitars on it, but still some here and there. The chorus is quite addictive after a few listens. The 'slow slide mix' of it is extended, and with funkier drums and more sounds. Comparing tracks 3 & 4 is kind of like comparing tracks 1 & 2: the remixes have more of the rougher edge, and less of the radio friendliness. Of course, track 2 is rather instrumental whereas track 4 has quite a lot of vocals.
'Walking In My Shoes' is taken from the album Songs Of Faith And Devotion.
