Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys helps
out again on this track. Generally I think the tracks with Tennant's voice
are substandard for both Electronic and Pet Shop Boys; both bands sound better
than this collaboration. Still, it's not a bad song, but a bit weak.
It gets a bit edgier in the 12" remix; those techno gurus of
808 State have (in their usual remix manner)
completely reconstructed the track, making it quite different from the original.
I think I like this remix more than the 'real' versions. It's not exactly
the standard extended 12" version.
'Idiot Country' off the
previous album has also been quite remade, but
perhaps less drastically. Some vocal samples have been inserted, and the bass,
drums and lead have been replaced while the guitar seems intact, only downmixed.
The general song structure is also altered, but it's still a great song. A nice
alternative to the album version.
