Comments:

This album is quite different from In The Garden, it's purely synthetic and more commercial and experimental at the same time. Annie's voice is stronger and more powerful, and more soulful too. At times the mix of soulful (white) female vocals and excellent synthetic arrangements make me think of another male/female duo at this time, namely Yazoo, but this album is less blippy and more using the synths in the manner of, say, Alphaville would a year later. The album is full of synth pop gems in a wide variety of musical styles (though all synthetic); who could forget hits like 'Love Is A Stranger' and 'Sweet Dreams'? And there are plenty more just as good that weren't hit singles.
