Comments:
The soundtrack to the somewhat different movie with the same name, a movie I hadn't seen until earlier today (971018). Strange to know the music so well (I've had this soundtrack for years), when seeing the movie for the first time. It was in fact when I recognized Neneh Cherry I stopped zapping on the TV and made a permanent halt for a specific channel for another two-and-a-half hours (I only missed a few minutes in the very beginning). I liked the movie, especially the storyline and the believable futuristic world of 1999. Ok, so some of the acting was not entirely excellent, but it was a good movie. Different from most. Definitely not American (*phew*).
So what's the music like, then? Well, it's mostly rather relaxed, and while touching the subject of the end of the world, often quite optimistic. At least that's the way I hear it. Most of the songs are really good, and by artists I'd not normally buy at the time I bought this. What convinced me to get it in the first place was the Depeche Mode track (unreleased anywhere else at the time, later released on Condemnation), along with the possibility of some decent tracks by a handful of artists. I was not disappointed. Quite the opposite.
