Comments:
A greatest hits album, with the most well-known songs from the albums and the two cult classics 'Blinkar Blå' and 'Mer Jul', not available on any other albums and both from 1981.
'Blinkar Blå' is perhaps the spookiest A&F track ever; a cold, barren song about the security of a nuclear power plant. If everything is OK, that little blue light should be blinking. But how do we know the computer makes the right assumptions, that all the technology can see every possible problem? Can we trust this hi-tech world?
'Mer Jul' depicts the stereotypical Swedish christmas, with all its highs and lows. The lyrics are about and about a calm and quiet man who generally doesn't get excited by much, but by the end of the year he wants more christmas; more of the glitter and bigger christmas trees, more santas and more presents, bigger christmas ham (Swedish tradition) and more chewy fudge, more cold and more snow. The melody is quite melancholic, so the lyrics can be either like from a person really longing for these things or from a person really detesting the very same (the ultimate A&F ambiguity). If there's one song I'd be forced to pick as the best A&F track, it would be this one (closely followed by 'Blinkar Blå'). A true classic.
