Normally I can't stand love ballads. Depeche Mode, however, do them differently. First of all, they usually have excellent lyrics, and not those stereotypical clich‰s that infest the genre. Secondly, the outstanding atmosphere created by a competent choice of sounds is really brilliant. 'A Question Of Lust' is one of those songs.

'Christmas Island' is a very good instrumental track that fits well as a B-side on this single. It sort of reminds me of a handful of other DM B-sides in its structure and 'feel'; all instrumental and with a rising tension towards the end. I can't really understand why they put two different versions of the same song right after each other, though. 'A Question Of Lust' and 'It Doesn't Matter Two' are both taken from Black Celebration.
