Comments:
A great collection from Memento Materia, one of the most interesting Swedish labels at the moment. AFAIK, only Mesh is non-Swedish. Here's a quick review:
Good new tracks and remixes from Mesh and Tragic Comedy. The two Kliche songs are really good, perhaps in the style of Kiethevez or the likes. Malaise is more impressive than before. Maybe I should get their newer material...? Native Cry do their best to sound like an American synth pop band, like Red Flag or Seven Red Seven (can't remember which is which). Not exactly to my taste. 'Luminal' is another great stomping tune from my new favourites Covenant. 'Flux' is a slightly longer remix of the longest track off of Sequencer. The April Tears is the only band (with the possible exception of Malaise) that strikes me as not very synthetic. People have compared them to Joy Division but with female vocals. Either way, 'Little Blue Girl' is a great little guitar pop tune, slightly Cure-ish. 'Heart Shut Down' on the other hand, is more like a guitar/disco tune, and not very good IMHO. It has many of the annoying qualities of a song by the Cardigans I can't stand.
